Keep
up the hustle.

Re: Let someone else do the legwork

I like where you're headed with this Derek. My brother is a college athletic coach. To raise money for the team expenses he held an online auction. He sent his players out into the community to get donations from local business people and they held an auction. It wasn't a big thing and it did raise some money but what my brother was complaining to me about was that a good chunk of that went to the online auction service. I know that the local business people were happy to help out but I thought, "What about the alumni that were now in business around the world?" So I had the software built to do online auctions specifically for charity. I didn't have to reinvent the wheel, just make it available for free. Any Nonprofit organization, school or charity that has a website can use my service. AND I designed it to be easy for any business to donate to from anywhere so more money can be raised. Plus the donor business gets an online, ongoing "Thank You" from the auction tied to that charity, so it helps promote the business online and encourages them to donate again in the future.

Re: Let someone else do the legwork

Great points Eric. The first point hopefully won't exist now that I
released that "big" secret... hahaha Completely agree on the second
point, if you are selling something to tweens, the Ford Fiesta agents
aren't attracting the right market. You have to make sure you are
selecting the right market for sure.

Re: Let someone else do the legwork

This also came to mind today... I think there are 2 major reasons another company would not reach out to you. 1, they don't realize that someone else has done the work for them, or 2, they are looking for a different market and believe that Ford's list would not address the niches, groups, demographics, etc they might be shooting for.

Honestly though, I don't know enough about the competitive marketplace for this industry to say for sure why one company or another would not use Ford's list.

Re: Let someone else do the legwork

That's awesome, I'm a big believer in focusing on what you do best and
letting other people fill in the rest.

Just kidding. Good point. To many people get bogged down in planning & don't step back to notice that they can piggyback parts of their businesses on the work of others.

Re: Let someone else do the legwork

Exactly, benefit off of what other people have done in your niche.

Here's another angle.
I was walking my dog today when this thought popped in my head. "With all these great ideas you come up with, why don't you throw them off to other people and have them develop it and make your idea a reality?" That is exactly what I am doing. I have a VA that does all the legwork for me, all I do is come up with great ideas and push them over to her.
