I may have to reference this the next time someone asks me why I'm too busy to socialize or why I take everything so seriously. It's all worth it. :)

Re: What It’s Like to be a College Dropout CEO

There ya go. Very inspiring, Derek! The analogy to school fits well through life and I appreciate your comparisons.

Keep on rockin your walk!

j

Re: What It’s Like to be a College Dropout CEO

Thanks buddy! You get a good score on a final exam, and are then able to sell that exam and all the exams you have taken in college to someone for $20 million, keeping ownership in about 10% of the exams.

Re: What It’s Like to be a College Dropout CEO

Couldn't agree more with you Jared!

Re: What It’s Like to be a College Dropout CEO

Great comparisons. It's so true that so many kids think that when you say your starting a company your on easy street or something. They complain about class or after graduation working the 9-5. All while I think about how much crap I have to deal with. It's kind of funny listening to it because I know I'm much happier with everything I'm doing.

It is fun as hell though!

Re: What It’s Like to be a College Dropout CEO

I don't know if this is an addition or an augmentation, but I'd also say that the people giving you your grades (investors in this case maybe) might fail you because they actually understand the material worse than you do and are afraid giving you a good grade will bring down their own grades.

Anyhoo, nice post. I like how you characterized everything.

Re: What It’s Like to be a College Dropout CEO

This is the most comprehensive analogy let, and those that love lists have something to repost! Also:

- There's a whole new meaning to the term "extra credit"
- "Finals" are now known as "retirement". You never stop learning.

Re: What It’s Like to be a College Dropout CEO

Well put.

Re: What It’s Like to be a College Dropout CEO

Love this explanation, as well as girlinyourshirt's. inspiring. :)

Re: What It’s Like to be a College Dropout CEO

I appreciate your explanation. The reason too, that I think its "fun as hell" is because it's real life risk taking. It's putting your whole soul, life, money, time, relationships, EVERYTHING on the line for success and it will either fail or fly to the top. It's real life gambling. It's real life thrill. It's like sky diving. And hoping the parachute that you've so carefully prepared, actually comes out and saves your life.

Re: What It’s Like to be a College Dropout CEO

I couldn't have put it better myself. Glad there are people like you out there who actually know what it's like. I liked #2. That's how I feel most of the time.. like the other Friday night haha. But I like it.
