Couldn't agree more.

Re: What Not To Do With Investor Money

When you're making $15-$20 mil/year, you don't fly commercial. period. But you are right, the public doesn't understand that a $20k round trip means nothing in the grand scheme of the corporation and gives off a bad image. CEO greed is disgusting, don't get me wrong--especially when it comes to lavish company trips and bonus--but not flying in a pj.

Re: What Not To Do With Investor Money

It's pretty pathetic what happens to people when they get their hands on money. They lose sight of their end goal, which was hopefully in the first place, was to create a sustainable company. Americans especially, forget that the accumulation of wealth is not measured by how much you spend! And DEFINITELY not when your a startup!

Re: What Not To Do With Investor Money

Right on, and they're just not communicating what a companies fiscal priorities are -- or should be. Huge disconnect, and a wet noodle for letting it happen.

We're in an age where there are sacrifices being made, the average person is figuring out how to do with less. That clip right there just undid the 30 billion in good will that advertising bought them the last decade.

Which is great for the ad agencies in the long run, because the heaviest spenders for agencies of record are... you guessed it, the automotive industry. In fact, you're not even considered a mid-sized boutique agency until you have an automotive client. It's a weird perspective whose time has passed.

Either a) automotive will have to redouble their PR and marketing to undo the damage or b) agencies will see their budgets shrink and they start treating automotive clients like bottom feeders. Whichever, it should be interesting. It better be on my nickle.

Re: What Not To Do With Investor Money

Great comment!
